About "Us" Perfect Little Stitches began in 1997, at the urging of embroidery friends who admired the designs created by me, Mary Jane Allen (also known as "MJ in Virginia" and formerly known as Mary Jane Gendell). All embroidery designs are carefully crafted to minimize jump stitches and color changes. Each design is test-stitched by me, to insure that all the stitches work together to create a design that will stitch well, and look great. The images you see on my site are of actual stitch-outs. Although
I do not do much custom digitizing, I love hearing ideas for new
designs. Feel free to email me a suggestion or two. You
may wonder why my email address is "tbearwoman". When I
first discovered the Internet, I was an avid collector and creator of
teddy bears. I spent many hours hunting down old bears, researching
their origins and restoring them to prevent further deterioration.
Embroidery has now displaced that hobby, but the name remains. My
son Adam is studying for a
masters in geo-physics. He plays the drums every chance he gets, and
also loves to snowboard. My daughter Megan is a freelance editor,
graphic artist, handstand and trapeze performer (and instructor). My Westie Didi was the inspiration for the design that
forms the background for the pages of my site. She's getting on in
years, but is still my constant companion. You
can download the design for free from the CD Furry Friends page. My daughter Megan helps me occasionally with artwork
and she created a few designs one summer when she interned with me.
Other than that, the business is run solely by me, every day of the year
(except for the rare vacation or hurricane). If you have any
questions, I am the one who will answer them. There are no middle
men. There is no big operation. Just me, in a very small town in
Virginia, doing the best I can. Although
I do not post my
home phone or home address on my website (for security reasons), I am
happy to call you if you have questions.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Perfect Little Stitches!
