Browse » Sewing Patterns Diaper Bag, Book Bag, Messenger Bag Pattern for Diaper Bag, Book Bag or Messenger Bag  The diaper bag, book bag and messenger bag are all made from the same pattern.  The strap is shorter for the diaper bag, longer for the messenger bag (worn across the chest), and done either way as a book bag.  There is one large outside back pocket (that can be divided into two smaller pockets for the diaper bag) and a small pocket at each end.  Inside there is a large back pocket, small end pockets and a small pocket in the front.  The zipper is optional, but provides extra security.  The entire bag is lined with stipple-quilted fabric to give the bag great body, to cushion the contents and to improve the wear of the fabric. Designs shown are sold separately. Supplies for any bag: 1– 5/8 yards (45” wide) duck, denim, twill or flannel 1– 3/8 yards lining fabric ** Quilt Batting (crib size panel at least 38” x 45”) ** 14” zipper (optional) Embroidery designs and embroidery threads Heavy cut-away stabilizer   ** If pre-quilted fabric is used for the lining, you will only need scraps of batting for the side pockets and shoulder strap.
